Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) - National Beauty Culturists League (NBCL) Scholarship Program
1. Do I qualify for the scholarship?
Eligibility criteria for 1st year students- Student must complete 2 years of IOC Matriculation Eligibility criteria for existing students- Must have been an active student within the previous year (if students have been out of IOC for 2 years or more they will need to apply under 1st year applicant guidelines for the scholarship.

2. How do I apply for the scholarship?
To apply for the scholarship, you need to complete the criteria available from your State President and on our website and submit all required documents by the specified deadline. Detailed instructions can be found in the scholarship guidelines.

3. What documents are required for the scholarship process?
Academic transcripts, a personal statement, and letters of recommendation. Please check the criteria guidelines for a complete list of required documents.

​4. When is the deadline?
The deadline is November 1 each year. Please refer to the scholarship announcement or our website for the current year's deadline.

5. When will I be notified if I receive the scholarship?
You will be notified within 7 days of the last day of the Annual Board of Directors Meeting

6. Can I reapply for the scholarship next year if I am not selected this year? Yes, you can reapply for the scholarship in subsequent years if you continue to meet the eligibility criteria.

7. What is the process for National Donor donations?
National Donor donations will be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee. Recipients will be awarded scholarships based on Professional Achievement, Financial Need, Personal Statements,  Essays, Letters of Recommendation, Demographic and Geographic Considerations, Rubrics, Extracurricular Activities. These criteria help ensure a thorough and balanced evaluation process, allowing scholarship committees to identify the most deserving.
National Donors should submit their donations directly to NBCL. The Scholarship Committee will then follow the scholarship application review and award process.

8. How does State Sponsorship differ from National Donor donations? State Sponsorship involves a donor providing a scholarship for a student selected by the state. These donations should be sent to the State, which will then submit them to the NBCL Treasurer. It is the responsibility of the State President to notify the NBCL Scholarship Committee of funds donated and received on behalf of the IOC for State Sponsorship. The State President is also responsible for communicating with the recipient.
